Fame is a statistic - it only goes up, and used in the ladder for players to compete with each other (same with Glory).

Trophies, however, are a currency - but you already gain +1 gold for every +1 trophy you earn - so it already gives you gold - plus, we really want players to use it for epics and fill the world with exciting creations :)
