The new version is finally here!
It took a while to release because it has quite a bit of content as well as a brand new mechanic and new gameplay elements.

Check it out!

  • Mitsu's tales! (phase 1)
    • 6 episodes so far, with some interesting surprises inside.
    • Accessible via the new bottom hud addition - Mitsu's sensei
    • Each episode has an 'adventure completed' and 'player level' prerequisite
    • Brand new interface for playing the story (shortcut = T) you can replay old stories if you wish as well
    • First time you play an episode, there will be no shurikens - after you finish it, you can replay to try and grab the shurikens and perfect it (shurikens may be tricky!)
    • Switch back to the normal world via the story interface or the map
  • Emory fighter - a new enemy from the Emory clan!
    • Wields a large halberd
    • Will attack Mitsu when in range, his attacks push Mitsu back (and hurt, of course)
    • Will attack incoming Kunais (when coming from the front)
    • Pushes Mitsu back when Mitsu attacks him from the front
    • Can patrol (walk forward, fall, bounce on trampolines etc) (the Emory marksman will have this ability as well soon)
    • If set on patrol, will run towards Mitsu if close enough
    • Has the Emory alert mechanism and will alert other members when needed
  • 'Run and Gun' is a new kunai skill that unlocks at level 4, it gives the player the ability to shoot kunais while running.
    • Kunais shot while running are faster then normal kunais
    • Can be performed while airborne or on the ground
  • Dashing down is now a new skill that will pass through places that Mitsu can jump through (Like down+jump)
    • This is even more powerful since with a single dash you can pass multiple platforms
    • This skill unlocks at level 8
  • Dialogs changed a bit, making them more standard - a press of a button shows the entire text instantly, and if the entire text is shown, it switches to the next part of the dialog
    • Also added a dedicated button (TAB) that will instantly skip the entire dialog
    • SFX changed a bit as well, playing a sound as the dialog is written
  • The game will now do FPS throttling, meaning that it will slowly lower the FPS of the game if your computer can't handle the stress.
    • The game will take far less CPU then it did before on machines that cannot handle it's normal FPS
    • This will hopefully solve / lower the sticky keys issue, which seem to happen on machines with heavy loads
  • The Teon launcher (trampoline) does not need to be placed on a Teon tileset now
  • BUG FIX: The center of the world (under the tutorial) didn't show completions/perfections/+1's on the map

Enjoy!

Some small fixes and additions were just added to this version:

  • The Mitsu's tales interface now as sound effects for opening/closing/paging/teleporting/completion/perfection
  • Completing or perfecting episodes will show some pazaz as the story interface reopens
  • When getting a special ability from your sensei, the sound effect will be heard while playing and not during the dialog
  • "/where" or "/locate" players will now correctly show their location around Mitsu's tales
  • Episodes can now be paged by holding the left/right buttons for quick paging
  • The halberd Emory enemies will now only play their alert sfx once per adventure playthrough

Holy crap this is amazing! Also, I feel like you've included a XCOM reference in there (Run And Gun, anyone?)

EDIT: Found a bug with the crystals- using Death From Above to destroy them will result in Mitsu completing the level (playing the animations and all that) while still in the air.

Story mode is cool, some nice puzzles there and I really liked the super powers :D. Some minor issues, though:

> If you already completed all available story episodes, there's no longer any indication on the free exploration mode about the T shortcut or any other way to replay story mode. If you don't remember the shortcut, you're out of luck.
> Insta-kill on the story mode can be annoying sometimes and it comes mith some graphic glitches.

> Finally, clicking the "Back to free exploration" button on the "To be continued..." screen, does nothing.

Oh, also the chat room names for the story mode levels have incorrect names:
- story 1 thing
- story 2 thing
- fghjf
- shem
- dark
- gopter

Another issue. If you switch to story mode from a level that you haven't completed yet, when you switch back to exploration mode you'll get a blank screen.

A few more fixes/changes were just released:

  • While in the Mitsu's tales, if Mitsu reaches the 'top' of it, he will be able to jump above the ceiling of the story (the camera will not follow).
  • When locked to an adventure, Mitsu's death recap will show his last moments correctly if he fell downwards to his death.
  • The tales button will now be visible for players who finished all the available tales
  • 'Back to free exploration' now works correctly when looking at the 'to be continued' page
  • Chat room names in Mitsu's tales are now set correctly to be the episode name
  • When going 'Back to free exploration' you will always teleport to the last touched shrine (game will no longer crush trying to teleport to an unfinished adventure)
