So far, this game has been fun and all: tight platformings and quick maneuvers really feel ninja-like. And matching with him, we've got cherry blossom rains in the levels, cherry trees, senseis, rivals and the soundtracks in a pseudo asian feel. However I think this asian feel could be improved a little more, by adding geisha NPCs, or rickshaw people and stuff. There are many asian cliche objects that would help make Mitsu feel more 'at home'. Just a thought. Giving Mitsu more reasons to be a ninja in an ever-expanding game would be interesting!

We have already made a Geisha NPC (it just wasn't added to the release yet). ;)

Rethinking about this it just came to mind, a samurai enemy, who run towards you to slice you with his sword, with which can deflect a kunai. It could have 3 hp, so to be killed by a lunge attack, dash-stabbing him in a scenic samurai death encounter. http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/x/samurai-kill-29016891.jpg
I think it happened to me once or twice, to trow a kunai to a rival ninja and stop his kunai trown, so a similar thing for the samurai, wait him to get close enough an start a short battle with 3 parries and then he has a moment of vulnerability. After the fight, you can honor the rival swordman (still in the scene but more like a squirrel) with the honor ritual of beheading (but I think that is the conclusion of a seppuku).
Back to NPC, it could help variegate them with just a bit of color costumization, for hair, hat(maybe hair brooch for a geisha NPC, skin and clothes
