I often wonder what I can do in the level editor, but to find out I have to then buy the area which costs gold. Perhaps we could have a pre-editor where we could edit a none existing area with everything unlocked and we can see how mechanics work without having to worry about the 24hour time limit and when we are happy the map tells us "this map can only be placed at floor 4 or lower (due to the mechanics we implemented) and tells us the total cost if we were to place it somewhere.

we would then have to search the map for a place to put it. this way we dont have to worry about the timer, or worry about wasting our money on an area with the wrong mechanics. (eg. floor 5 does not have the quest trigger thing)

I do understand it would take a very long time to implement this into the game, and players would have to change how the paths according to which area they want to take with their pre-edited level.

Just an idea though, That I reckon to be a good one. :)

This is certainly an interesting idea.
It would be nice to be able to edit an area first and THEN choose where you would like it to go.
The existing borders would still remain of course, so an area would be able to be Edited to fit where you want it.

But I think there should be an extra gold cost for the ability to do this. Everything should have a gold cost to make the resource precious.

Potential problems of this could be the diminishing significance of the timer.
Without the pressure of the timer, levels may take longer to come out.

The ability to mess around in a sandbox for each area would be nice without investing gold. But if it is too much work to program in, it probably isn't worth it.

All this being said, I do think we need to make creating levels to be less "daunting" for those without plans or ideas.

The Sandbox feature was actually discussed a while ago in one of our meetings!
It is indeed an interesting idea, though in a somewhat lower priority at the moment.

Thank you for the input - great minds think alike ;)
